About this Book:

Ellie, a previously contented and ultimately self-interested upper-middleclass housewife, has everything synonymous with the American dream—an opulent home in suburbia, a beautiful son, a loving pilot husband, and the best damn coffee beans that money can buy. But almost the instant three planes, used as missiles, strike their strategic targets on September 11th Ellie’s illusions and Pollyanna-esque outlook are shattered and start to crumble like the massive walls of the Twin Towers. Now anxiety ridden, and uncharacteristically argumentative, Ellie tries to make some sense of the confrontational mess her life has mutated into. Decaffeinated, disconnected, discontent and extremely disagreeable, Ellie delves thoroughly into the human condition—asking tough, introspective, and often uncomfortably critical questions about today’s societal norms and major influences. In Ellie’s mind, no subject is sacred and no answer will suffice. Politics, religion, the media, and even bumper stickers are all fair game in Ellie’s world—where freedom, freewill, and democracy are merely buzzwords and sound-bites designed to formulate our ‘common interest.’

About the Author:

Yaz Manley holds a degree in Journalism. She wrote and voiced reports for ABC international. Yaz was working as an On-Air Broadcaster for over a decade before self-promoting into a rewarding position as a stay-at-home Mom. Spending the past several years seamlessly melding with the general public has enabled her to extract much information and true life commentary for this sardonic look at society.

Book Review:

Quirky, sharp, and extraordinarily amusing…Ellie takes you for a ride as she embarks upon her philosophical journey. Along the way, she gives everyone a real piece of her mind—her inner monologue, and her opinions, which she can’t help but to voice every chance she gets. I found myself agreeing, disagreeing and laughing out loud! —Erin Weideman, author of Meet the Enchanters
