About this Book: |
Millions of our citizens have never achieved their potential because of poor reading and basic mathematics skills. Over 50% of the top third of today's high-school graduates require remedial instruction in English and/or mathematics upon entering college. More appalling is the fact that their teachers achieve similar results. The author describes the causes of these problems; placing the blame squarely on the policies and practices of our Colleges of Education.

Book Review: |
The author traces the decline in public education, since the 1950s, primarily due to the unfounded practices, methods, and theories espoused by Colleges of Education. These include; whole word and whole language instruction, new math 1 & 2, multi-lingual instruction, the myth of the all knowing elementary teacher, the junior-high/middle school boondoggle, education vs. indoctrination, the child centered education fiasco. and union's impact upon professionalism.
