About this Book: |
Heroism did exist during the Holocaust, and this story illustrates that there were some who would risk their own lives to save the lives of others. The fictitious Anna fights two wars--not only the war against the Nazis, but also a personal war to keep her lover, Joseph, from the grasp of the beautiful, mysterious Ilsa. Fleeing a forced labor camp in Nazi Germany, Anna and Joseph become resistance fighters during the latter months of WWII, and Paris describes their attempts to appear to lead a normal life while secretly trying to outwit the enemy. On their trail is barbaric Captain Stoltz, whose infatuation with Anna drives his furious search for the two escapees. Events propel Anna and Joseph toward a surprising, suspenseful conclusion.

Book Review: |
Anna's Two Wars is an excellent blend of history and intrigue. The reader's interest is held from the first word to the last. Some characters are larger than life, while others play supporting roles, but the pace never diminishes. This book is not just another compelling book, but it opens the reader's eyes to a behind-the-scenes view of the Nazi death camps, the underground fighters, and the interaction between characters that's bound to take place in such life and death circumstances. Mimi Paris's style is bold, at times sexy, and she has done her research well. I would recommend this book to men or women as a great read.
