Lisa truly believes that her life is blessed. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Paul, they share a charmed life full of love and devotion. As owners of a quaint bookstore in Vermont, they are well known, and well liked by all in the community. The only things missing in her life were the children she longs to have. After two miscarriages and a daughter who died only hours old, they decide it was as God intended.
Christmas is her favorite time of year so Lisa always decorates the store from roof to floor, usually winning the town award for best displays. She loves the magic of the holidays, the strolling carollers, the egg nog and wrapping presents. She never dreamed that her favorite day would become the day her nightmare began.
Paul's unexpected death on Christmas Eve quickly turns Lisa into the town Scrooge. She believes God has betrayed her and life has no meaning. A chance meeting with a child in the park touches a place in Lisa's heart that she believed dead. It takes the wisdom of a small child to make her see that life is worth living, and that God's love is eternal
