The tale of Sleeping Beauty is one of the oldest fables we have. The oldest known version is found in 'Perceforest', a French narrative written in the 1300s, but the oral tradition is almost certainly older. Since that time, many of our most celebrated children's authors have adapted the story through the ages, to the delight of children and adults alike.
In my research into the history and various versions of the tale, I found some dark beginnings of the story from the Middle Ages that perhaps served as a cautionary tale. I have purposefully guided the narrative toward a more up-to-date interpretation that is suitable for children.
In this new retelling, the tale blends the traditional story with colorful and descriptive wording that brings the narrative vividly to life.
Using language that is perfect for bedtime story sessions as well as individual reading for older children, the book is destined to be a favorite with lovers of fairy tales of all ages.
