About this Book: |
|
Jessiehouse is a real place and all of the characters are real! This book of our treasured Southern family recipes is really an excuse to give some interesting genealogy on the family and tell food-related stories. The original concept was to simply pass down recipes from our grandmothers to our granddaughters, but it became more....there are pages of stories before the recipes and stories within the recipes....readers love the entertainment and delight in reading recipes for such foods as boiled peanuts and ice cubes. Above all, this is a tribute to Jessie, the one who carried on the family cooking tradition for many years.

"You have done it again ! There aren't enough words to describe your latest accomplishments - you covered EVERYTHING. Your book is in a category all its own and could be a national best seller if put on the open market. It is a profile of what every family should be about, and a real lesson to those "in need" of help. "---genealogist and historical librarian.
In its third printing, Jessiehouse cookbook is finding a home with those who love cooking or simply love to read a good story. A fascinating glimpse into an extraordinarily close Southern family via vignettes and recipes. One reader says, "You brought your family to life in a real sense for me. I feel as though I know each one personally." For beginning cooks, details on how to prepare a dish are well defined. From a cookbook author: "This buttermilk pound cake recipe is so thorough and turns out perfectly every time...there's no guessing. It's the best pound cake recipe I've ever tried." At the price, a wonderful gift for brides-to-be, new cooks, or anyone who wants to be entertained with wholesome belly laughs and tear-jerking sentimental stories.
