About this Book: |
|
At first glance the reader might think A Widow’s Advice to Young Wives is written for widows. However, it is primarily written for young wives. When the author’s husband passed away, she realized there was no book to counsel her concerning her regrets before she became a widow. What she wanted most was to focus on her memories, not on her losses. It is her hope that the reader will take this small book to heart because God laid it on her heart to write it. Her prayer is that new brides and not so new wives will take this advice and make positive adjustments in their outlook and attitude toward their husbands.

About the Author: |
|
Shirley was married to the love of her life for thirty-four years and has been a widow for the last six. Over the course of her husband’s naval career and subsequent naval contract employment, she has lived in six states as well as Japan, the Philippines, and Bermuda. She presently resides in the Memphis, TN area near her children and grandchildren. She has been facilitating a Creative Writing Class for four years at her local Senior Center and is very active in her church. She describes her need to write as “fire shut up in my bones.” Most of Shirley’s short stories are memoirs of events in her life but she has also been working on two Christian romance novels.

"I absolutely loved your book. I think this is so valuable--not just for new brides, but even for those like me who have been married for over 25 years. I recognized myself in so much of what you wrote. I take my husband for granted entirely too much. Our husbands are our gift from the Lord and we must treat them with the utmost of respect. I so wish I had realized this early on in our marriage. I know that there are many more wives who would benefit from your words of wisdom. Thank you! Helena (Greenville, AL)
I just read your book--it was one of those that I couldn't put down. I had to read it to the end. It hit a cord with me. This will help so many women right now who are going through these same situations. You have really touched women's lives with your life story. It is so powerful but yet simple to read and understand. I am looking forward to making a commitment to my husband to change a few of the things that I can be doing much better. Thank you! Angela (Petal, MS)
